The number of clients listed here is the number of 'actively associated wireless clients'. These numbers do not include the wired clients. Additionally, "actively associated" refers to those clients associated to the router with internet access AND those clients, that while not associated wirelessly, have been "Remembered." Remembered clients are those who have selected the "Remember Me" on the User Login page or were manually Remembered by the Administrator on the Status ->Wireless(WiFi) admin page.
For example, suppose you are using a PHS300 with a maximum client limit of 16. You also have 5 remembered computers, which at this time are not associated wirelessly to the router. Of those 16 available wireless connections, only 11 are now available for others to connect &/or be Remembered by your PHS.
If you find clients who should otherwise be able to connect to the router, but instead are being handed the Maximum Clients Reached bounce page AND you have the Require User Login feature enabled, you may need to "un-remember" some clients from the router to allow other computers to associate. There are two ways to do so:
Removing Remembered Clients:
1. Log in to the router’s admin pages
2. Find the Remembered Clients section of the Status->Wireless(WiFi) page.
3. Select the ‘X’ under the Forget Client label for those clients you wish to remove from the list.
Disabling the User Login:
The Remembered Clients feature is directly associated with the Require User Login feature. You may also disable the Require User Login. In this case, any remembered clients will be temporarily forgotten until the Require User Login feature is enabled again. Disabling the Require User Login will however allow any associated client to access the internet in a first come-first serve fashion if your router is not configured to use other security measures such as WEP, WPA, or MAC Address Filtering.
